'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the dramatic final moments of Swansea's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match ended with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles following the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative effort from outside the box, and his teammate immediately hammered in the rebound before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This completed an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. In the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory earned a next round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right defensive wing after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way Orient approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at manage and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without real physicality. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that growth for both domestically and internationally, excelling for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches games against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

It has been an incredible journey for the player from the local area in his hometown, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

How hard was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it became apparent where I felt I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself a teammate, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and on the road. His teammate is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on London's Central line after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
